About Us

 Animal Welfare of the Albemarle Region Every Day (AWARE) is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to preventing unwanted litters by offering discounted spay and neuter vouchers to all pet owners in Chowan, Gates, and Perquimans counties, North Carolina.  We are not affiliated with any other organization.

 As the main fundraising partner of Tri-County Animal Shelter (138 Icaria Rd., Tyner, NC), AWARE helps to increase adoptions and enhance care for animals and staff through targeted support.

Participating veterinarians have requested a small adjustment to vaccine fees due to rising costs. New vouchers reflect updated pricing immediately. Current voucher holders have a grace period until April 15 to use existing vouchers at original rates.

Key Changes:

Rabies vaccine (required for cats and dogs): $5 to $10

DHPP vaccine (dogs): not required but strongly recommended | $10 to $15
